Robert F.

Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency/ Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH)*

I was fairly healthy until March of 2020 when I became very ill and was diagnosed with liver failure.

It has been a whirlwind of trying to make sense of it all and I was hospitalized several times between March and July.

My condition worsened quickly and I was on the liver transplant list for one month and one day. I received the gift of new liver on July 18, 2020.

I am recovering and feeling great. My biggest challenge is getting all of the medications adjusted . I am very grateful to have made it this far and am looking forward to enjoying life.

You have to stay positive at all times. Family and friends are the key to helping you through the rough times. Follow the directions from your medical care team. Be compliant.

*Fatty liver disease has been newly renamed to steatotic liver disease.
