Rotonya Carr

Rotonya McCants Carr, MD, FACP is currently the Cyrus E. Rubin Chair and Division Head of Gastroenterology at the University of Washington. As Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Carr founded the Liver Metabolism and Fatty Liver Program. Dr. Carr is also an NIH-funded basic science researcher and clinical hepatologist who specializes in the care of patients with fatty liver diseases. Her laboratory investigates the mechanisms of insulin resistance in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and alcoholic liver disease, two leading causes of liver failure worldwide.

Connection to Liver Disease
Dr. Carr became involved with ALF to advocate on behalf of her patients affected by liver disease. She is an active volunteer leader who has led several community health programs on behalf of ALF for both patients and medical professionals.
