Liver Patients, Families, and Medical Professionals Walk to End Liver Disease

Thousands join together to support the nearly 100 million Americans affected by liver disease

The American Liver Foundation (ALF)) is hosting its annual Liver Life Walk for 2025 at 17 in-person locations across the country. Liver Life Walk raises funds and awareness for liver disease and helps create life-long connections and networks of support between patients, families and all those affected by liver disease.

Liver Life Walk has been a signature event of American Liver Foundation since 1999,” said Lorraine Stiehl, Chief Executive Officer of ALF. “Funds raised through the Liver Life Walk empowers ALF to continue providing valuable resources to liver patients and their families, fund critical liver disease research, and advance public health education and improved patient treatment and coverage.”

ALF’s 2025 National LIVEr Champion is Dallas, Texas resident Domenic Frappolli who was born with biliary atresia (BA), a rare liver disease in newborns that blocks the bile ducts and prevents the bile from draining from the liver to the small intestine. Domenic stated, “Growing up, my family and I dealt with an array of challenges stemming from my liver disease, but I also had the good fortune of participating in many of the life experiences that any child or young adult should have, which never would have been attainable for me without the support of my family, friends, and doctors. Last year, after increasing complications in my medical condition and a selfless offer to donate from my brother-in-law, Walker, I underwent a live-donor liver transplant, which has given me back my energy, focus, and ability to truly enjoy and appreciate my life and community.”

ALF’s 2025 Pediatric LIVEr National Champion is Isabella Arlt, a high school junior in Houston, Texas, who was diagnosed at 15-years-old with acute liver failure. “I was blessed to receive a liver transplant three weeks after my diagnosis. I was lifted by the optimism, confidence, and courage conveyed from my family, friends as well as the amazing doctors and nurses at Texas Children’s Hospital,” said Isabella. “I am here today because of an organ donor; it is the consummate act of love and generosity. I will never be able to thank the person who gave me the ultimate gift, but I am committed to honoring her legacy by making it my mission to raise awareness about organ donation.”

ALF gratefully acknowledges our 2025 Liver Life Walk National Sponsor, Madrigal Pharmaceuticals, for their continued leadership and support in helping liver patients live longer, healthier lives as well as helping us reach those most in need in underserved communities.

Liver Life Walk has many locations across the country throughout the year from Boston, Massachusetts (June 8) to South Bay, San Francisco (October 18). ALF will also host a Virtual Walk for those unable to attend in person this year.
