Liver Cancer

On July 13th, 2020 I was diagnosed with Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma (Liver Cancer). This type of cancer usually affects people that have Hepatitis C or Cirrhosis from alcoholism, none of which I have. I was just very unfortunate to have been diagnosed with this type of cancer. I thought it was a death sentence.

I have started immunotherapy and I no longer feel like it’s a death sentence. I am here to fight for my life and I want to help others that may be going through the same thing.

I am a loving mother, wife, daughter, niece, sister-in-law and healthcare worker. I usually like to leave my private life private, but I feel at this time, it is my time to share my experience with others in order to maybe help someone else.

I would like to bring awareness to my symptoms so people can get checked earlier and receive treatment earlier. Both my parents had Hep C and Cirrhosis of the liver. My father passed away from liver cancer. I want to be an advocate to tell people to never stop fighting.

Never, ever give up fighting. It may seem like a long dark road, and sometimes being told there is no cure for your disease can seem bleak and like a death sentence, but it’s not, so many people love you and will help you fight when sometimes you don’t think you can fight for yourself. Reach out, ask for support and help.
