Udeme D. Ekong, MD, MPH, FAASLD

Udeme Ekong, MD specializes in the care of children with a wide range of pediatric liver diseases, including autoimmune liver diseases, biliary atresia, progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis syndromes, genetic and metabolic liver diseases, non‑cirrhotic portal hypertension, and chronic hepatitis B and C. She also provides care for pediatric patients in need of liver transplantation as well as those who have undergone transplant.

Dr. Ekong is triple board certified in general pediatrics, pediatric gastroenterology, and transplant hepatology. In addition to her clinical practice, she is an active researcher whose laboratory focuses on improving long‑term liver graft function in pediatric transplant recipients and advancing understanding of the pathogenesis of autoimmune liver diseases before and after transplantation.

Dr. Ekong joined ALF to advance education, resources, and treatment for pediatric liver disease and has helped lead the development of educational webinars for patients and healthcare professionals.
