- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced on March 27th that they plan to restructure the department by merging multiple agencies into one. - On March 25th, the Senate voted to confirm Dr. Martin Makary MD, MPH, as the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Makary served as a surgical oncologist and health policy researcher for more than two decades at Johns Hopkins.
- The Senate voted to confirm Dr. Jayanta Bhattacharya, MD, PhD, as Director of the National Institutes of Health on March 25th. Dr. Bhattacharya served as a professor of medicine, economics, and health research and policy at Stanford University.
- Dr. Susan Monarez, PhD, was nominated on March 25th to serve as the Director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Monarez has served as acting director since January 23rd, 2025.
