Weekly Healthcare Policy Round-Up

October 10, 2025

In this week’s Health Policy Round-Up, ALF shares the most up to date news happening in Washington DC.

  • On October 6th, the Acting Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Jim O’Neil, directed the CDC to identify the barriers that cause some pregnant women to miss their hepatitis B screening and develop ways to ensure all pregnant women get screened. ALF will continue monitoring the situation. Complete our action alert here!
  • The federal government shut down on October 1st after Congress failed to agree on a new fiscal year 2026 funding bill. The House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution (CR), a temporary funding bill, which would fund the government through November 21st. Although the Senate voted on the House-passed CR to fund the government, it did not reach the 60-vote requirement in order to pass. The House of Representatives is scheduled to be back in session the week of October 13th, with the Senate also returning to Washington D.C.
