Weekly Healthcare Policy Round-Up

September 19, 2025

In this week’s Health Policy Round-Up, ALF shares the most up to date news happening in Washington DC.

  • The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), met this week to discuss potential changes to vaccine recommendations for children and adults in the United States. One vaccine that will be voted on is the hepatitis B birth dose which is given to newborn babies. Since the universal hepatitis B birth dose recommendation was implemented in 1991, childhood hepatitis B infections have declined by 95%. American Liver Foundation (ALF) strongly supports providing the hepatitis B birth dose. ALF will review ACIP’s recommendation and monitor any potential implications. Take action for the hepatitis B birth dose here!
