My journey began when I was 8 weeks old, when I went down to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana to receive the Kasai Procedure.
At 41 days old Adriana underwent a cholangiogram that resulted in her being officially diagnosed with Biliary Atresia and receiving her Kasai procedure on January 17, 2019.
The first symptom of my liver disease was vomiting a large amount of blood. I was told I had end stage cirrhosis, when the day before I had no idea anything was wrong.
March 9th 2013 my whole world changed. My liver failed that morning and was diagnosed with Acute Liver Failure and then Cirrhosis at the young age of 30.
In her early thirties, Blum was already struggling to manage not one, but two rare liver diseases: primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and primary biliary cholangitis (PBC).
