Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a severe form of MASLD (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease) that causes the liver to swell and become damaged. MASH and MASLD used to be called nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NASH).
