My advice to anyone with alcoholic cirrhosis is to stay positive, believe in yourself, never give up, stop drinking alcohol immediately and listen to your doctor – it will save your life.

I have always been a healthy and active person. As a child, my parents impressed upon me the benefits of eating healthy and exercising.

I was born with Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis that was discovered when I was in grade school.

As the caregiver for the 7 years 9 months my husband waited for his transplant, HE was by far the most difficult side effect of liver disease to deal with.

I have been diagnosed with various autoimmune diseases. One of which they are now considering may have overlapped into a second autoimmune disease (AIH/PBC) both attacking my liver.

I entered the US Military at the age of 18 and caught Hepatitis C while serving as a medic.

My name is Valerie Green I was diagnosed with Chronic Hepatitis C genotype 2 in August 2015 at age 56 after feeling lousy for a the last 8 years.

Having been addicted to drugs and alcohol for 20 years, in 2001 I was 13 years clean and feeling pretty good about myself. I had a wonderful family and had very recently moved to Durham, NC for a new job.

I was in an airport about to fly home when my wife called and told me the diagnosis. Meyer had an autoimmune liver disease. I had no understanding of liver disease.

I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis and stayed in the hospital for two weeks. After a year and a half in treatment, I’m now in remission.

I didn't know anything about HE until my wife was on her deathbed with liver failure and her doctor asked me about certain symptoms, observed her physical condition and provided a diagnosis.

After 2 years of testing, it was determined that I had autoimmune hepatitis. The disease had gone and diagnosed and untreated for 30 + years.
