Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

I was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) when I was 23 years old, a year into my marriage and living far from home for the first time.

I was told I would need a liver transplant in 5-10 years, which quickly turned to as soon as possible, when the doctors realized how sick my liver was. I was listed for transplant that year.

After a few months on the list, with no real progress, my doctor encouraged me to consider living donation. This is the route we ended up taking. In August 2015, my sweet donor saved my life.

Today, 5 years later, I am loving life as the wife and the mother I always dreamed of being. My 9 month old has a healthy mama and for that I am so thankful.

Don’t be afraid to tell people your story. You could change their life and you could change their mind about organ donation!

The verse that got me through my hardest days: When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. -Isaiah 43:2
