- Members of the House and Senate have departed Washington, D.C., for the campaign-season recess and are now back in their home states until after the election on November 3rd.
- This week the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee voted to advance the nomination of Dr. Nicole Saphier for surgeon general. Dr. Saphier served as the director of breast imaging at Memorial Sloan Kettering Monmouth in New Jersey. Dr. Saphier earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Barbados and completed a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. A Senate confirmation vote has not been scheduled at this time. ALF will continue to monitor for updates.
