Liver Transplant
I was diagnosed with liver disease on 10/16/2017, which happened to be my birthday. After several more test I was told that changing my lifestyle by losing weight and eating healthy I would probably be alright. Boy were they wrong. On 5/3/2017 my family doctor sent me to Nazhi Zuhdi Transplant Institute (NZTI) in Oklahoma City. I went back again to start the process of getting on the transplant list. This was the last appointment I made. On 5/31/2017 I was admitted to my local hospital with ammonia poisoning and critically low sodium. On 6/4/2017 I was sent back to NZTI admitted for liver failure. I had still not been put on the transplant list. In the next two day I was run through all the testing that normally takes months. On 6/6/17 I was on the list and number 1 in Oklahoma for A blood type with a meld of 35. The next day I was #1 in Texas meld was 38. On 6/10/17 I was told they had found liver and was transplanted the very next day with a meld of 40. It’s now been six months and feel better than I have felt in two years. The two pictures are the night before surgery and three months after.
