Biliary Atresia

Elaina was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia at two weeks old and had her Kasai procedure done at three weeks old. Elaina was born at 32 weeks old, making her one of the youngest and smallest babies to have a successful Kasai performed.

Without the skill and expertise of her GI doctor and pediatric surgeon at OU Children’s hospital, the outcome could have been very different.

Elaina is awaiting a liver transplant. The transplant will be done at Texas Children’s Hospital by Dr. John Goss.

The best advice we’ve learned is that no BA baby is the same, but they are all fighters and stronger than their parent’s could ever dream of being.
