Ellen Rucker Sellers is CEO and Co‑Founder of Rucker Roots Hair Products and a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine. She is the proud mother of Kai Michelle and fraternal twins Stokely and Sadie, and is married to CNN political analyst, attorney, and former South Carolina House Representative Bakari Sellers.
In January 2019, shortly after the birth of their twins, Ellen and Bakari’s daughter Sadie was diagnosed with biliary atresia. She underwent a successful liver transplant a few months later and is now doing well. The Sellers family became involved with ALF in 2021, when Ellen and Bakari served as Co‑Chairs of the National Legacy Gala Honorary Committee. Through her platform and leadership, Ellen has helped engage and recruit influential leaders to the liver community, raising critical awareness and support.
Deeply grateful for the medical advancements and access to care that saved her daughter’s life, Ellen is committed to working with ALF to ensure that all families facing pediatric liver disease have access to the resources, support, and high‑quality care needed to achieve the same positive outcomes for their children.
