On Mother’s Day weekend, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Leading up to my double mastectomy, I had to have a series of blood work done. That’s where they discovered my elevated liver enzymes.

My blood work was flagged for high liver enzymes. I spent the summer having additional blood work, an abdominal ultrasound, and a Gastroenterologist who ordered a liver biopsy.

In 2005 I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and later with NAFLD. Was also told that I didn’t qualify for a liver transplant.

Emma was a 9 year-old 4th grader when she was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis. For a year or so before she was diagnosed, she was participating in gymnastics and cheer.
