Webinar: Living Donor Liver Transplantation

Living-donor liver transplantation (LDLT) is a life-saving procedure for patients on the transplant waiting list. The purpose of this webinar is to discuss the complex conditions that may lead to the need for a liver transplant. The American Liver Foundation has teamed up with UPMC- pioneers and leading experts in organ transplantation- to provide an overview of the procedure, including risks and benefits for donor and recipient.

Dr. Humar is a world-renowned transplant surgeon. As chief of Transplantation at UPMC, he oversees all clinical and clinical research activities at one of the world’s most active and prestigious transplant programs.

Dr. Humar’s areas of research include partial liver transplants including live-donor liver transplants and studies of hepatic regeneration, tolerance protocols, clinical outcome studies in kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants, and outcomes in pediatric kidney transplants. Dr. Humar has had more than 600 abstracts accepted at national and international transplant meetings. In addition, he has authored or co-authored more than 180 manuscripts, 25 book chapters, and 3 books.
