Chef Julian Ross was born and raised in the North Suburbs of Chicago. Growing up, Julian could always be found helping his Mother and Grandmother in the kitchen. As a young boy, his time spent in the kitchen developed into a love and passion for food and family. When it came time to choose a career path, it was easy – Julian just always knew he wanted to cook and create in the kitchen.
He chose to go to culinary school at Johnson & Wales in North Miami Florida. Following Culinary School, Julian worked in various hotels and resorts in Florida and upstate New York. A pull to be closer to family brought Julian back to the Chicago area where he worked at P.F. Chang’s for 7 years. Craving a change of pace and chance to experiment with unique dishes and menus, Julian joined the team at Topaz in January 2016.
When Julian is not cooking – he is still cooking! He loves to cook for his family, including his wife and two young children (and another on the way!). Or, you may find him hanging out at the local Farmer’s Market, his own home garden or behind the lens of his camera.
