For Patients Caregiver Tips and Advice For Medical Professionals

About Us

The Mid-America Division was initially organized by a group of dedicated volunteers and opened its first office in St. Louis in July 1998. Because of those who are committed to liver health – our Board of Directors, Medical Advisory Committee, and volunteers – the Mid-America Division serves Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. We invite you to volunteer at our programs and events, and encourage all the members of the community to send suggestions for educational initiatives in your area.

A Message from the Mid-America Division

Dear Friends,
As our local division strives to help people affected by liver disease, we need your help! We invite you to get involved and help make a difference in the fight against liver disease and promote liver health. There are so many ways to become involved – you and your family can volunteer throughout the year at our events and programs by becoming a team captain at one of our Liver Life Walks, speaking on behalf of those affected as a patient advocate, or attend a training session to become a certified volunteer educator. You can also remember the ALF in your will, give a gift of securities, and so much more.

The funds we raise are returned to our community through advocacy, education, and research programs. More than $1,500,000 has been awarded to local researchers; more than 4,500 people in our community have been screened for hepatitis C and/or vaccinated against hepatitis A & B. Our local division serves more than 100,000 people annually and reaches millions more people in our community through social media. Our advocacy efforts serve as the voice of a community often underserved and overlooked in today’s crowded public health environment.

There are more than one million people affected by liver disease in Mid-America. Many of these people are unaware that they have liver disease because symptoms oftentimes do not occur until late in the progression of liver disease. Liver disease is poorly understood and poorly funded. With your help, we can make a difference.
