American Liver Foundation Greater Los Angeles Division is proud to partner with local physicians, hospitals and medical centers and to provide support group information to our liver community. We thank our partners for their continued efforts in helping liver patients, their families and care givers. Below is the most current list of support groups in Greater Los Angeles area including Orange County.


The Cedars-Sinai Comprehensive Transplant Center offers a multi-organ transplant support group for patients and caregivers. It is mostly attended by liver transplant patients. The group meets on the first Thursday of the month from 12-1:30pm on the third floor of the Comprehensive Transplant Center, 8900 Beverly Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90048. Parking garage entrance is located on Swall Dr off Beverly Blvd. and parking will cost $5 with validation. No RSVP required. For question, contact Amy Modglin, LCSW at 310-423-7479.

The Cedars-Sinai Comprehensive Transplant Center offers a Liver Transplant Inpatient Support Group. You and your family members/caregivers are invited to attend the Liver Transplant Inpatient Support Group! It’s a great opportunity to share your experiences, and the chance to meet fellow transplant recipients and their families. This support group is held every 2nd Monday of the month from 1:00pm – 2:30pm located at 6NW Conference Room. No RSVP required. For question, contact Nicole Kagy, LCSW at 310-423-4617.


UCLA holds support group meetings for Liver/Intestinal Transplant patients. It is open to pre- and post-transplant patients. Meetings are held every Wednesday from 12-1:30pm at 200 Medical Plaza, Suite 206. Refreshments are served. For registration or more information please contact your social worker:

St. Vincent Medical Center

Transplant and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Support Group Meeting (for patients and caregivers) Bilingual (English & Spanish) groups.

St. Vincent will hold Support Groups on the following dates: March 13, May 8, July 10, September 11, and November 13. All meetings will be at 6:00 pm in Cafeteria Conference Room D at: 2131 West 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90057. Torrance Memorial Medical Center

Hunt Cancer Institute- Cancer Resource Center at Torrance Memorial Medical Center will hold the following events:

Men’s Cancer Support Group
This free group meets the second Tuesdays of each month at Torrance Memorial Medical Center West Tower, 2nd Floor, Conference Room B from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

This support group is a gathering of men living with or recovering from any type of cancer. It is a safe environment to ask questions and share concerns and experiences of living with cancer.

Lunch and Learn (Practical Needs for Cancer Care)
This free class meets every 1st Friday of the month at 11:00 am – 12:00 pm and provides information on the available resources to address the practical needs such as transportation, disability, home care, and etc during cancer treatment. Newly Diagnosed Cancer Support Group
Support group will be held every 3rd Friday of the Month from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Location is 3330 Lomita Blvd. West Tower, Room B, Torrance, CA 90503. Please call to confirm: 310-517-7077. This support group welcomes all individuals who are recently diagnosed with cancer and are looking for a safe environment to talk about their experience and coping.

St. Joseph Hospital

St. Joseph will hold patient support group meetings on the following dates:

  • April 9, July 9, and October 8 from 6 to 7:30 pm at the following address: Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment at St. Joseph Hospital, First Floor. 1000 W. La Veta, Orange, CA 92868. Registration is required. Please call 714-734-6295. Facilitator: Dave Sanders, PA-C Navigator.

Liver Disease Support Group at UC Irvine Health

This support group is designed to enhance communication among patients, their families/caregivers and UC Irvine liver specialists by face to face meeting and open discussions. UCI’s goal is to provide education on liver diseases, support and quality of care to patients and families.

Dates are: April 3, July 10, and October 9. These meetings will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.

Location for all meetings is: UCI Medical Center, H.H. Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center. 101 The City Drive, Orange, CA 92868. Building 22C, CDDC, First floor, 1502-B Classroom.

Please register one week before meeting date. Park in UC Irvine Medical Center main parking structure and bring your ticket for validation. Refreshment will be provided.

American Liver Foundation Support – Arcadia

ELA/ Arcadia Methodist Hospital Support Group. Location: 300 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, CA 91007. The classrooms vary between Classrooms 2 and 4 this time. All meetings are from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. ELA/ Arcadia Support group meetings are held on Tuesdays on the following dates:

  • January 22, February 26, March 26, April 23, May 28, June 25, July 23, August 27, September 24, October 22, November 19, and December 17.
  • The months of November and December are on the third Tuesday to avoid the holidays.
  • Parking is in the Red Cross parking lot, accessed via Huntington Drive.

American Liver Foundation Support Group – Northridge

These support group meetings are held on the following Wednesdays at Northridge Hospital. 18300 Roscoe Blvd., Reseda, CA 91325. Room number will be posted at the Hospital lobby prior to each meeting. All meetings are held from 6:30 to 8 pm.

2019 Support Group at Northridge Hospital are held on Wednesdays on the following dates:

  • January 23, February 27, March 27, April 24, May 22, June 26, July 24, August 28, September 25, October 23, November 20, and December 18 (Please note December 18th is the 3rd Wednesday).

Loma Linda University

English meetings:
Loma Linda University holds it Liver Support Group every first Friday of the month from 12-1:30 at the Transplant Institute. Loma Linda University Health. 25865 Barton Road, Suite 101, Loma Linda, California 92354. These meetings are for patients and caregivers. There is the option to have a caregiver Support Group which breaks away when requested from caregivers in the group.

Spanish Meetings:
Loma Linda University also offers support groups in Spanish on every first Wednesday of the month, from 5-6:30 pm. Facilitator is Cynthia Ludi, LCSW

The FAIR Foundation-Palm Springs Area


Join our monthly support group and benefit from the experience strength and hope from those who lives have changed through Liver and Kidney disease or transplantation.

The FAIR Foundation Liver and Kidney disease and transplant group provides emotional and educational support, referral information and strong peer support.

We bring in physicians specializing in the treatment of kidney/liver disease, transplantation surgeons, dieticians and social service experts are there to help you understand and manage your disease. Get answers to your questions.
