#FeatureFriday. Today is our last day of our Team Captain Appreciation Week!

Shoutout to the incredible Team Dekkie aka Deklan and their captain, Clarissa Archibald! “The reason we walk is to support our little man he is truly something special and to raise awareness of pediatric liver disease in his case biliary atresia. Deklan was given his second chance at life 6 years ago. Deklan walks so that he can meet others who have had similar experiences and he has loved meeting other liver recipients at the last two liver walk he has participated in Salt Lake City. He also said “who would start the walk if I don’t go?”. The funds raised are so important to liver patients and their families to help with treatments that may be needed, to further research and to spread awareness. We appreciate the support we have been given from ALF.”

Shoutout to the incredible Team Ray Carter and their captain, Sheralyn Carter! “Start with the reason for what we do. My Father - Ray Carter.”

With #TeamCaptainAppreciationWeek coming to a close, the ALF Desert Southwest staff wanted to say a final THANK YOU to all the amazing team captains that participated in the Liver Life Walks and Celebration of Life this year. We are so grateful for your positivity, generosity, and support. Also, thank you to all the team captains that shared their stories with us this week. Everyone in the ALF family has a story and it is inspiring hearing the reasons why you walk and choose to fundraise for our organization. Let the countdown for the 2020 Liver Life Walks & Celebration of Life begin!

As a continuation of our Team Captain Appreciation Week, our #ThankfulThursday is for Team Felipe and Team Captain Eli! "Team Felipe was honored to be in this year's walk in Memory of my uncle Felipe.

He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He had a very contagious smile that would bring a smile to whoever he met. We will continue to walk in his memory every year as I promised him. He is missed dearly."

For this week's #WarriorWednesday, we are honoring a very special member of the ALF family, Kit and team captain, Julia. "Kit's Crew walked in Tucson, AZ this year honor in of Kit Van Valkenburg, who died from complications from his liver transplant in August, 2018. Kit was diagnosed with liver disease 10 years before his passing, but according to his doctor he was likely living with the disease for years—potentially decades—before being diagnosed. We walk for him, the millions of Americans and their families who are impacted by liver disease, and to support the ALF's efforts to provide educational programs and patient services to individuals across the country." ...
