A pain in my abdomen advanced so rapidly over a week, it caused me to collapse. My body had shut down; my family was told I’d need a liver transplant to survive.

My journey with liver disease began when I was 12 years old. After being rushed to the ER due to burst esophageal varices, doctors learned that my liver was dangerously close to failure.

After tests, it was diagnosed that I had Autoimmune Hepatitis (a chronic disease in which the body’s immune system attacks the liver and causes inflammation and liver damage).

I was indirectly affected by liver disease as my mother became ill in 2009 and the only option available was to be a live donor.

It has now been 2 years and 4 months since my second liver transplant I feel healthy and happy.

I was diagnosed with liver disease on my birthday. After several tests I was told that after changing my lifestyle by losing weight and eating healthy I would probably be alright.

At only 3 ½ years old, Aiden has been hospitalized at least 10 times, had countless doctor visits and has undergone two liver transplants.
