Nicole M. Smith, PhD, MPH, MPP, MBA

Nicole Smith is a program officer with The Roots & Wings Foundation. During her previous 25+ year career in public health, Nicole held a range of positions with the U.S. Public Health Service, including assignments with the World Health Organization. For example, Nicole was the Associate Director for Policy & Communication for the Division of Viral Hepatitis at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Nicole also served as a member of the Oversight Committee for EndHEP2030 which led to the establishment of The Hepatitis Fund.

Connection to Liver Disease
Nicole became involved with ALF in 2017 after working on liver disease at CDC and witnessing the toll the disease took on patients and families. Her extensive background in public health, specifically viral hepatitis, gives our board a unique perspective on health disparities, prevention, and awareness.
